Astrid Newman on Curatorial Research Residency at the LAB
Astrid Newman is in her second year of the MA in Art Research and Collaboration (ARC) and is currently undertaking a practice-based curatorial research residency in collaboration with the LAB Gallery, supported by Dublin City Council. The residency is mentored and supervised by Sheena Barrett, Curator of the LAB Gallery, and Sinead Hogan (ARC). As curatorial research assistant Astrid will be supporting the research and delivery of the LAB Gallery exhibitions and associated public programmes and will be developing a self-initiated curatorial project at the LAB Gallery in 2019.
Astrid is an artist living and working in Dublin and works with performance, video and sound. She graduated with a BA in Intermedia Art from Edinburgh College of Art in 2016. She has exhibited and performed in numerous spaces including Rat Hole Gallery, Tokyo; Newlyn Gallery, Cornwall; Glebe House, Donegal and The Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh. She is a previous co-director of Embassy Gallery, Edinburgh and is co-director of conch.fyi, an online platform publishing weekly interviews.
