Students from IADT’s Art & Research Collaboration MA programme (ARC) will be hosting an information point as part of the Monto Gallery Weekend in the Oonagh Young Gallery space, James Joyce Street. They will present a temporary ‘turf depot’, inspired by the fuel depots that were part of the Monto area until the 1970’s. These spaces of transaction also operated as local gathering points for information, gossip and general sociability. The ARC students hope to tap into this fondly remembered part of Monto local history, to engage and facilitate a wide audience participation in the activities of Gallery Weekend.

The Turf Depot will be open to the public on:
Friday 24 November 6-9pm
Saturday 25 November 11am – 5pm
Sunday 26 November 1-4pm

A public talk by Terry Fagan of the North Inner City Folklore Project will take place on Friday 24 Nov at 7.30pm

Tea and refreshments will be served and information will be provided on Gallery Weekend activities happening in the wider Monto area.

The Turf Project has been developed by ARC researchers Becks Butler, Martina Coyle, Eliane Lima Del Carlo, Meghan McLachlan, Andrea Neill, Astrid Newman, Ciara Roche, Mella Travers
