Embroidered Identities: ARC Workshops at IMMA, 26 March & 2 April, 2016
Embroidered Identities, two-part workshop devised by Jai Thorn in collaboration with Marie Thornton
Saturday 26 March (& Sat. 2 April) 2016, 11am-1pm, Project Spaces, IMMA
Inspired by John Ruskin’s interest in self-improvement through craft education and skill, this small group workshop introduces participants to basic embroidery techniques, and explores how these techniques can be used to personalise mass produced clothing and other textiles. The workshop is organised over two Saturday mornings and participants are encouraged to attend both sessions if possible. Participants are asked to bring with them items for personalisation and a design that can be embroidered on to the clothing. This process will be documented by Jai Thorn as part of an ongoing research project.
These workshops are free but places are limited.
