In conjunction with the ARC Programme at IADT 2015-16; IMMA hosted a critical session that caters for postgraduate students and the public. Maeve Connolly (Lecturer, IADT) presented a paper addressing the ‘infrastructural turn’ in contemporary art, media and culture. The session explored definitions of infrastructure developed in art and media theory, referencing recent works by contemporary artists such as Celine Condorelli, Simon Denny, John Gerrard, Melanie Gilligan, Fiona Marron and Andrea Zittel, and also critical texts by Hito Steyerl, whose work is on view in the exhibition El Lissitzky – The Art and State at IMMA.
